Bachelor International Fashion Design

The aim of the B.A. International Fashion Design

… is to provide practical training producing highly qualified designers prepared for the diverse range of careers in the fashion, design and clothing industry.

This program is offered in conjunction with the École Privé Accréditée (Hochschule) „Fashion Design Institut by POLTHO AG“.

The Institut co-operates with external institutions, companies, universities and networks to secure its course offerings.

Along with the subject-specific orientation of the bachelor studies, practical interaction with the wider industry is understood to be an essential element of the design process and consequently has been applied in an inter-disciplinary manner.

Today’s fashion designers are required to work across multiple fields of the fashion and clothing industry.

In addition, study includes related areas such as costume and accessories design, fashion consulting, merchandising, public relations and advertising, fashion and product management, industrial design, product design and fashion journalism

With its multifaceted slant, geared to the latest technical and scientific developments, the B.A. International Fashion Design accounts for the dynamic, fast-paced demands of our knowledge society in the 21st century.

Graduates emerge qualified and practically prepared to enter their chosen career.

Innovation and competence

The course teaches so-called ‘meta-competencies’ which are considered key skills (in the sense of Berufsfeld) and a high priority in the labour market.

Skills that are especially nurtured include self-organization and management, teamwork, research and analysis skills, conceptual and creative thinking, social skills, implement innovation, and the ability to critically reflect upon their own and others’ creative work.

These skills are honed as students complete complex design projects, and they are supported by an increased understanding of media communication and cultural studies, principles, methods and knowledge. On the other hand students are introduced to diverse paths in design processes through media based teaching and the unique variety of inter-disciplinary experiences offered by Fashion Design Institut.
